Summer 2019 Show Fundraiser
For the fall of 2019, I have been welcomed to have a show at the Rice Media Center at Rice University, in Houston. The Media Center is a very large space, with two floors and 20 foot ceilings. While I do have a modest research budget through Rice, to utilize the potential of the entire space will require some major creative undertakings. This has the potential to be my largest solo show to date, and I would like to push what I am capable of producing with this show.
I also would like to start sharing more of my photography, specifically the images I have from various adventures over the years. My hope is that I will be able to raise some money for my show in the fall by offering prints of my images, along with some other goodies. The funds that I raise will be put towards the following non-exhaustive list of supplies that I currently need: printer ink, rolls of fine printer paper, wall paint, wall vinyl + text, vinyl installations of images, possible human assistance in installation, basic tools and hardware, publicity materials, gas and maintenance for my almost 20 year old car while it drives back and forth an hour each way from my apartment to Houston, and so on.
In addition to covering the costs of the show, I will also use 10% of each item purchased to give a donation back to the site at which the image was taken. From the images I am offering, the following organizations will be benefitted from a purchase: The American Institute for Roman Culture, Badlands National History Association, Big Bend Conservancy, Capital Pride Alliance, Devil’s Tower National Monument, Fishlake National Forest, Florida State Parks Foundation, Friends of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Galveston Bay Foundation, Galveston Historical Foundation, Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council, The Georgia Aquarium, Glacier National Park Conservancy, Grand Canyon Conservancy, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, National Park Foundation, Niagara Falls National Heritage Area, NYC Parks, Rocky Mountain Conservancy, Save Venice, South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation, Voyageurs National Park Association, Yellowstone Forever, Yosemite Conservancy, Zion National Park, Zion National Park Forever Project
My initial fundraising goal is $5000. It’s a hefty amount, but still achievable. I will track the progress of the donations below, updating as orders come in:

In conjunction with my show, I am publishing an artist’s book that will be a companion for the exhibition. I am working with Dan Schmahl’s Super Hit Press based out of Galveston, and I have somehow convinced (bribed) curator and writer extraordinaire Joshua Fischer to contribute an essay about the work in the publication. The book will include Josh’s essay, works and photographs from the show and further information and documentation about the schematics of the concept behind the work. This will be a small edition, and one that I hope will bring an added layer of context to the show. I will update this section with more specifics once they become available, though in the meantime you can see examples of Dan’s past publications from his website.
Polaroids: One original only
I would like to further broaden my experience with event shooting: weddings, engagements, child birthdays, pets, seances or anything else you may want documented. To help facilitate this, I am offering a low fee for these services, as compared to other more accomplished event photographers. My ideal client for this would be someone who needs something a bit on the inexpensive side and is ok with a package that would not necessarily have the bells & whistles associated with a larger fee. I will work with you directly to determine what your ideal final product/s would be and we can go from there.
The $500* base fee is what I had in mind for things like weddings, which would include approximately up to 15 printed images, along with 50 edited, digital images. All images will be shot with a Canon Mark iV, a full-framed digital camera for high quality images, and personally printed from my studio. I am also open to shooting with film and other possible alternatives that we can discuss on a case by case basis. Negotiations are also welcome to help personalize the package details to the occasion.
*Please keep in mind that if not locally based, any traveling costs would be in addition to this base fee.
Please email me directly to work out details. Once everything is settled upon, a deposit of 1/2 the contribution cost will be due, with the other have due on receipt of the edited and printed images.
Or, if you would simply like to make a donation to help out, I will send you good juju and the universe will repay your karma threefold.
