My approach to printmaking is a way for me to sort out conceptual work onto paper or into a two dimensional realm. For me, it is in the nature of printmaking as to where I find my release from drawing, which I often become frustrated with. With my work vacillating between being in a digital sphere versus in a physical realm, I return to print when I feel anxiously dexterous and need to get my hands on materials. All of my work is deeply layered and the work above is a beginning exploration into how I can translate those layers into print, while taking on a growing sculptural element. While starting small, I very much view these prints as my first foray into larger and more complex sculptural prints, with ways of exploring how to marry video components into and onto works dealing with and on paper. In my mind, the serial nature of printmaking is easily folded into the seriality of frames in a film, with my efforts of making printmaking capable of capturing small moments in an otherwise forwardly moving arc.
